The best of the guided Outeniqua Trail which winds through Knysna’s indigenous forest is combined with unforgettable coastal hiking on the Harkerville Trail to form a fantastic four day backpacking trail. This trail is halfway between a slackpacking and a backpacking trail, as you‘ll only need to carry enough gear for an over night hike because we’ll have your luggage available for your convenience at the second nights hut.

From deep at Diepwalle Forest station in the Knysna Forest, you’ll start the multiday hike below a canopy of ancient trees. The first two days explore the natural forest with endemic tree ferns, giant Yellow woods, Elder, Stinkwood and other forest trees. The path crosses many rivers and isolated islands of Fynbos are encountered en route. The night’s are spent in huts, firstly the remote Fisanthoek and then the Harkerville  Hut whe first night is spent at the remote Fisanthoek Hut where your guide will prepare a delicious dinner while you relax and take in the forest ambience. On the second day the 12km (4.5hours) trail is gentle a leads through the forest to Harkerville. (For more details and pics on the Outeniqua Trail follow this link)
